Great Things Don't Just Happen
The Children's Advocacy Center of East Central Missouri is off to a busy start in 2012! We have wonderful Fundraising Committees at all three of our locations and are so thankful for their dedication to our mission.
The 10th Annual Sweetheart Dinner and Dance was held in February. Dr. David Stansfield was recognized as the Child Advocate of the Year by multidisciplinary team members. The CAC has been honored to have Dr. Stansfield, of Jefferson County, as part of our team since the doors opened. His dedication and commitment to children is an inspiration to all of us who work with him. Our Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to John Rupp. John served on the board of the CAC and has spent a great deal of his career making sure children in Washington County are seen and heard. His dedication to making the legal system more child friendly will have a lasting impact on child abuse and neglect cases. We extend our sincerest thank you to both Dr. Dave and John Rupp. Thank you, again, to all our supporters and guests. We look forward to seeing everyone at the Sweetheart Dinner and Dance next February if not sooner!
March brought on our Farmington Dinner and Dance sponsored by First State Community Bank. Hours of hard work by our Fundraising Committee resulted in a casino night theme and a wonderful time had by all. Thank you to all of our supporters and guests. Stay tuned for the date and location of next years Farmington Dinner and Dance!
Moving into April we sold Child Abuse Prevention t-shirts. Over 500 t-shirts, actually! What a great response for a great cause. Our counties were proudly wearing their blue in support of Child Abuse Prevention Month. Franklin County government graciously allowed the CAC and Franklin County CASA to plant our pinwheel garden at the court house again this year. The gardens are simply an impact statement. They reflect a community that wants to know how to prevent child abuse and one that is willing to take a stand against child abuse. It's such a beautiful sight and raises lots of questions and awareness about child abuse prevention. Thank you Franklin County! New this year was a pinwheel garden in Jefferson County. The CAC and Jefferson County CASA planted a pinwheel garden at the court house and at the administration building with the blessing of the Jefferson County government. Thank you Jefferson County!
As always, we are honored to serve the 10 counties we serve. We know that it takes every person on our team and a strong community to prevent, treat, and educate about child sexual abuse. Please look around out website and contact us with any questions.
